With the popularity of downsized backyard weddings making such a comeback, I thought I’d share some of the details from an event I did last summer. When an old friend asked me to cater her upcoming wedding reception I was so honoured. Sam & Rick wanted a down to earth casual affair which completely reflects them as a couple. The venue was their beautiful property in a quaint lakeside community and was the perfect place for them to host 60 of their favourite people.
The deck off of the house was set up for the romantic ceremony and with all of the giant mature trees, it felt like a tree house. After the touching exchange of vows the guests went down into the stunning yard to mingle and enjoy cocktails and appetizers.


Right after the ceremony we started off with a tray pass of these adorable fish & chip cones. We wrapped bamboo cones in newspaper parchment, added a chippy fork, a side of malt vinegar and a cutie little Union Jack 🇬🇧 , all a nod to the Bride’s British heritage.

We kept the Mac & Cheese hot in chafers and served it in take out boxes that were decked out with personalized labels
